Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're new to therapy or looking to return, it’s normal to have questions. Below are some of the most common questions I receive about the therapy process, what to expect, and how we can work together to support your well-being.

What issues do you specialize in?
I specialize in therapy for anxiety, depression, life transitions, postpartum and maternal mental health, teen challenges, and relationship issues. I also provide couples counseling and support for parents navigating the emotional demands of early parenthood. My goal is to provide a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel supported and empowered.

How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and the challenges you’re facing. Some clients see progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll check in regularly to make sure therapy is helping and aligned with your needs.

Do you offer virtual therapy?
Yes! I offer both in-person and telehealth (online) therapy sessions for individuals and couples. Virtual therapy is a convenient and effective way to access support from the comfort of your own space, especially for parents, professionals, and teens.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply curious about personal growth, therapy can be incredibly helpful. Whether you’re navigating stress, struggling with anxiety or depression, or seeking a safe place to process life’s changes, therapy provides a supportive environment to gain clarity and healing.

Do you work with teens or families?
Yes, I provide therapy for teens who are navigating anxiety, identity issues, academic pressure, social challenges, and emotional ups and downs. I also support parents and families in building healthier communication and deeper connection with their teens.

What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. We'll talk about what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and begin building a foundation of trust. You’re welcome to ask questions and go at your own pace—there’s no pressure to “have it all figured out.”

How do I get started?
Getting started is simple. You can contact me through my website to schedule a free consultation or go ahead and book your first session. I’ll answer any questions you have and help you decide if we’re a good fit.

What is the cost of a therapy session?
Below are my standard session rates. I also offer an income-based sliding scale for therapy to make my services more accessible to those who may not be able to afford the full rate. If you’re concerned about the cost, please feel free to email me to inquire about the sliding scale options - I’m happy to discuss how we can make therapy more affordable for you.

  • Individual Sessions: $250. Sliding scale rates range from $125 to $200.

  • Couples sessions: $300

Do you accept insurance? How much will I pay if I use out-of-network benefits?

I am out-of-network with insurance providers. Clients are responsible for full payment after each session. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement. Typically, insurance companies with these benefits will cover 60-80% of the session cost. Depending on your plan, this could make therapy costs comparable to in-network rates.

How can I use my out-of-network benefits? Is it simple to do?

Using out-of-network benefits is straightforward and doesn’t have to be time-consuming. I am happy to provide you with superbill receipts for you to submit to your insurance. To ensure a smooth process, I recommend contacting your insurance provider beforehand to understand their submission procedure and verify your coverage. For some insurance plans with out-of-network benefits, I can submit the paperwork for you and get paid directly by your insurance provider, significantly reducing your cost.
